How do I display expressions?
All expressions must begin with '=' and have all symbols enclosed within single quotes. This new
format is required since eSignal symbols can contain spaces. To help aid with this format please
review the examples below.
- =('NG 1!' + 'NG 2!' + 'NG 3!') / 3
- ='W 1!' - 'C 1!'
- ='ES 1!' / $SPX * 100
- ='EP 1!-IP' * .134336 - 'EB 1!-IP'

How can I get a long-term view on a market? When I try to display a weekly or monthly chart, it only shows me the data for the nearest term contract back to the first day it began trading.
When you display a weekly or monthly chart for a specific contract, you will see the
same amount of data as a chart with a shorter time span.
You can get a longer-term view of a market by removing the contract specification
from the symbol. For example, if you were looking at S&P 500 futures, the
instrument name of "SP Z7" returns a specific contract. Change this to just "SP",
and a continuation chart will be displayed. A continuation chart is an artificial
time series built from the daily time series for active and expired contracts.
This will give you a true long-term view of the market.
I noticed that I can "save chart preferences." How do you do that, and why is this beneficial to me?
Chart preferences are used to pass your favorite settings along to our
chart application. For instance, if you prefer to see a large-sized
candlestick chart with a medium density using a 30-minute Intraday time
series and plotted with a Moving Average, you can save these settings and
to apply them whenever you request a chart. Saving your preferences saves
you time - you can change any setting on any chart, clear your preferences,
and save new ones whenever you choose.
The futuresource.com site uses "cookies" to save and retrieve chart
preferences. Many web servers use cookies, which are small data files
sent to your computer that hold the settings you save. Whenever you access
the Charts tab after being sent the cookie, the chart will load in accordance
with the data stored in the cookie. FutureSource.com does not use cookies to
retrieve information from your computer that was not originally sent in
a cookie.
It seems as if some data is missing on a chart with two symbols (an overlay).
This is not an error. When you try to overlay a symbol that has both day
and night sessions onto a symbol that has a day session only, you will see
gaps in the chart data. The chart will show a gap because there is no
night session for one of the symbols. For example, graph SP 1! and overlay
$INDU and you will see gaps in the data. Graph RSP 1! and $INDU and you
will not see gaps because both contracts are traded in the day session.
What are the codes that designate the delivery month for a chart?
Please refer to the Delivery Months table for more
information. For example, C Z8 = December 2008 Corn, whereas C U8 = September 2008 Corn.
I am having problems printing the chart.
The print icon, found immediately to the right of the Help tab, will open the
chart in a new window for printing. If you have problems printing the chart
from this window, try right-clicking on the chart image to display your
browser's context menu. Depending on your browser, you should have an option
to either print the image, or save the image to your pc (where you can open
it in Microsoft Paint or Photo Editor and print it from there).
